Easterling – Goat Hunt

The Easterling crew make rendezvous with their British friends from the canal passage and met their Galapagos host, Karl Angermeyer, a settler that escaped Nazi Germany in 1937.

A century or so ago, whalers visiting the islands introduced goats, probably so they would have something to eat upon their return. The result was a terrible over-population of goats that were destroying the landscape and threatening some very unique species. So upon their arrival, the crew of Easterling and their hosts went on a hunt and barbecued goat meat and coffee was on the menu.

This post is thread from the main story Easterling, a story telling of a 1963 sailing voyage through the Caribbean Sea, Panama Canal, Galapagos Islands and South Pacific in a 34’ slope. Watch full video.
